Thousands of our families have lost their jobs to foreign countries, and this trend continues indefinitely. As a case worker in the field of children's services, I have the opportunity to come in contact with some of the afflicted families, I was able to touch and feel their loss as though it was my own. I tried to help them adjust to living with no or very little money. The economical pressure resulting from the loss of jobs can cause all sorts of stress, anxiety, depression, interpersonal strains and unfortunately, even break of families.
Sadly, the impact is greater on children. the children suffer the loss of job of their parents, but they can not comprehend why and how it is happening and who can stop it. Fortunately, they are usually more resilient than their parents in adapting to the new family budget, they gladly make sacrifices and will do anything to see a happy face on their parents.
One child told me one day: save my daddy's job. What did she think a case worker could do? who can save her daddy's job? All of us can help save her daddy's job. A better question is: who is WILLING to save her daddy's job?
I do my share by trying to buy American products when ever possible. |
